The Stanford Fly Media Facility, housed in the Dept. of Developmental Biology and in continuous operation since 1989, supports the University's research community working with Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism. Our core function is the preparation and provision of fly food, vials, bottles, and related supplies to laboratories investigating questions in Developmental Biology, Genetics, and allied disciplines. Equally central to our mission is fostering a culture of shared expertise and collegiality — the Fly Media Room serves as a meeting point where researchers exchange knowledge, troubleshoot challenges, and build the collaborative relationships that advance Drosophila research at Stanford.
